Privacy Policy

Effective September 6, 2026. Clearly is made by Amos Live, Inc. ("Amos Live," "we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. Clearly handles some of the most personal information there is. We built it so that as little as possible leaves your control, and this document describes exactly what does.

This is the text shown inside the iPhone app. The Android app shows the same document with "Google Play" wherever this says "the App Store"; nothing else differs.

1. The short version

We collect your phone number, the name you choose, and what you log in the app: who you cleared with, whether it happened, the score you gave, tests you upload, and anything you report. We use it to run Clearly and nothing else.

People you clear with see your name and your current status. They never see your partners, your calendar, your scores, your tests, or who reported anything.

Alerts are anonymous. We never tell anyone who reported a positive test.

We do not sell your information. We do not show ads. We do not share your information with data brokers, advertisers, insurers, employers, or anyone who is not helping us run the app or required by law.

2. Information you give us

Account information. Your mobile phone number, the verification code you enter, the display name you choose, an optional Instagram handle you add to your own profile, a four-digit passcode you choose (stored only as a salted hash; it is required before any alert is sent, five wrong tries in a row lock it for ten minutes, and it can optionally be required to open the app), and the date you accepted the safety acknowledgement shown before first use. Your phone number is how your account is identified so people you know can clear with you.

Contacts, if you choose to share them. If you allow access to your contacts, Clearly keeps their names and phone numbers on your device so you can pick someone to clear with from a list. Only when you pick someone, or type a number, do we send a scrambled (hashed) form of that one number to check whether they have an account. We never upload your address book, names, or any other contact details, and we never message or contact anyone in your address book. You can turn contact access off at any time in your device settings.

Activity you log. Records of who you cleared with and when, the method used, whether you confirmed that sex happened, the date, the score you chose, and any private notes you write. For group encounters, the members of the group. This includes the partner list, calendar, and statistics the app shows you. Names and Instagram handles you add to people for your own reference are stored with your account and shown only to you.

Health information. Test results you upload, including the document or photo, the test date, and which infections the test covered. Reports you make that you tested positive for a sexually transmitted infection, including the infection and dates. Your resulting status. Alerts you receive that you may have been exposed. This is sensitive health information and we treat it as such throughout this policy.

Communications. Messages you send to support, bug reports, and suggestions, along with the app version and device details you include.

3. Information collected automatically

Device and technical information. Device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, crash reports, and diagnostic logs needed to keep the app working. We do not collect precise location. Nearby clearing uses your device's local network and Bluetooth radios only to find another phone in the same room, and that connection carries only the information described in Section 5.

Purchase information. Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We receive confirmation that a subscription is active, its renewal date, and an anonymized transaction identifier. We never receive your payment card details.

Push notifications. If you allow notifications, we receive a device token so alerts can reach your phone. Notification text on the lock screen never names an infection or a person.

4. How we use information

To run Clearly: create and secure your account, let you clear with others, show your status, log encounters, and keep your calendar and statistics.

To decide who needs an alert: when someone reports a positive test, we use encounter records and test dates to determine who may have been exposed, using the window periods described in the app.

To deliver alerts and reminders, including push notifications you have allowed.

To manage your subscription and free trial through Apple.

To respond to your support requests and bug reports.

To keep the service safe: detect abuse, fraud, or attempts to identify who reported an infection, and to enforce our Terms.

To comply with law and protect rights: respond to lawful requests, and protect the rights, safety, and property of our users, the public, and Amos Live, Inc..

We do not use your information for advertising, for training models that are shared outside the service, or to make automated decisions with legal effects on you. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we have not done so in the past.

5. What other people can see

When you clear with someone, by any method, the two of you (or everyone in a group) exchange only: your display name, your Instagram handle if you added one to your profile, your phone number if they do not already have it, and the kind of your status at that moment: Clear, Needs a test, or Positive, along with whether your verified tests cover the basic panel of chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV (a Clear status without that shows as "clear, but uncertain") and, when your status is Clear, which infections your tests covered. Never which infection a Needs a test or Positive status is about, and never any dates. That is the entire exchange.

No one you clear with can see your partner list, your calendar, how many people you have been with, your scores, your test documents, your alert history, or who reported anything. Those exist only in your account.

When you report a positive test, people who may have been exposed receive an alert naming the infection and the earliest date a test would count. The alert does not include your name, your phone number, the date of any encounter, whether the report came from a direct partner or a partner of a partner, or anything else that identifies you, and it never will. We do not share who reported with anyone, including the people alerted, even if they ask.

Be aware that anonymity has practical limits we cannot control. If a person has had only one partner in the relevant window, they may be able to guess who reported. Clearly never confirms or denies such a guess.

6. Who we share information with

Service providers. Companies that host our servers, deliver text messages and push notifications, store uploaded documents, and help us provide support. Test documents you upload are read by an automated document-checking service (Anthropic) to confirm they are lab results that match the date and infections you entered; that service does not use your documents to train its models and does not keep them beyond a short processing window. If the automatic check is inconclusive, a member of our team may look at the document. Providers may only use information to provide services to us and are bound by confidentiality obligations.

Apple. Apple processes payments and provides push notifications. Apple's handling of your data is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

People you choose. Only what is described in Section 5, only when you choose to clear with someone.

Legal reasons. We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is required by law, subpoena, court order, or governmental request; to enforce our Terms; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Amos Live, Inc., our users, or the public. Where the law allows, we will try to notify you before disclosing your information in response to a legal request.

Business transfers. If Amos Live, Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. This policy will continue to apply, and we will notify you of any change in who is responsible for your information.

Aggregated or de-identified information. We may share statistics that cannot reasonably be used to identify you, for example the number of alerts sent in a month.

We do not share your information with advertisers, data brokers, insurers, employers, schools, or any public health authority except where Section 6 (Legal reasons) requires it. Clearly does not report to public health registries.

7. Health information and HIPAA

Amos Live, Inc. is not a healthcare provider, health plan, or healthcare clearinghouse, and Clearly is not a medical service. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) generally does not apply to information you provide to Clearly. We protect your health information under this policy and applicable consumer health privacy laws, including, where they apply, the Washington My Health My Data Act, the Nevada consumer health data law, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, and the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation.

Where consent is required to process health information, you give that consent by uploading a test, making a report, or completing a clear. You can withdraw consent by deleting the relevant information or your account.

8. Your choices and rights

Access and portability. You can see everything the app holds about you in the app itself. You can request a copy of your data by emailing support@amos.live.

Correction. You can edit your name in Settings. Contact us to correct anything else.

Deletion. You can delete your account from Settings. Doing so deletes your account, your partners, calendar, scores, tests, and reports from our active systems within 30 days, and from backups within 90 days. Alerts that have already been delivered to other people are not recalled, because they contain no information about you and because doing so would undermine their safety. Records we are required to keep by law, or that are needed to resolve disputes or enforce our Terms, may be kept for as long as needed for those purposes.

Notifications. You can turn notifications off in your device settings. Alerts will still appear inside the app.

Contacts. You can revoke contact access in your device settings at any time.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, so there is nothing to opt out of. We honor browser-based opt-out preference signals where required.

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Oregon, Texas, Montana, Washington, Nevada, and other states with privacy laws may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, and port their data, to opt out of sales, targeted advertising, and certain profiling, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. To exercise a right, email support@amos.live. We will verify requests using your phone number. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision.

Residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Our legal bases for processing are: performance of our contract with you (running the service), your explicit consent for health data, and our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and preventing abuse. You have the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our contact for these requests is support@amos.live.

9. How long we keep information

Account information is kept while your account is active. Encounter records are kept while your account is active because they are what make exposure alerts possible, including alerts that may need to go out long after the encounter. Test documents are kept until you delete them or your account. Support messages are kept for up to two years. Diagnostic logs are kept for up to 90 days. After deletion, information is removed from active systems within 30 days and from backups within 90 days, except where retention is required by law.

10. Security

Information is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access inside Amos Live, Inc. is limited to people who need it to run the service, and is logged. Uploaded documents are stored separately from account information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by law.

You are responsible for keeping your phone secure. Anyone with access to your unlocked phone can see what the app shows you.

11. Age

Clearly is intended for people 13 and older, consistent with its App Store rating. We do not ask for, collect, or infer your age or date of birth, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us at support@amos.live and we will delete it.

12. International users

Amos Live, Inc. is based in the United States and information is processed there. If you use Clearly from elsewhere, you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses for those transfers.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If a change materially reduces your rights or changes how we use health information, we will notify you in the app and, where required, ask for your consent before the change applies to you. The effective date at the top tells you when this version took effect. Continued use of Clearly after a change means you accept the updated policy.

15. Where Clearly is offered

Clearly is offered in the United States and in other countries where it appears in the App Store. It is not offered to, and must not be used by, people who live in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland. We do not direct the service to those places or monitor anyone there, and by using Clearly you confirm you do not live there. If that changes, stop using Clearly and ask us to delete your account.
